I’m working on an album about my family and my husband’s family titled “Yesterday and Today” with Ali Edwards at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Since my Mom and Dad, were coming to Texas for a short visit I called my Mom and asked her to bring any photos that she could find of her, my Dad, and my Grandparents. She showed up with lots of photos organized by family members but what I really loved was the scrapbook that my Grandma had put together.
This scrapbook makes me seriously happy.
I love this photo of my Grandma holding my Mom. My Grandma is really caught up in the moment, completely unaware of the camera. I wonder what she was thinking.
One of the many pages she included was my Mom on her birthdays holding her cake. My Grandma must have spent hours typing up the who, what, where, and why. I can actually envision her sitting at a table doing this on an old typewriter.
So, this is what scrapbooking was like in the 40’s and 50’s. There are not any fancy papers, embellishments or fonts included in this scrapbook, and you know what, I love it exactly as it is. It really is about the photos and the words. Nothing else really matters.
