Lift the Person Above You Challenge

Happy Friday, friends! Today I have a layout to share that I made for a "Lift the Person Above You" challenge at the Nook! Everyone that signed up to participate was tasked with lifting a layout from the person above them in the thread. I got to pick a layout from the gallery of the talented Shilo! I chose to lift this layout from her gallery.

Here is my take on Shilo's layout...

I liked the circle/banner combo at the bottom of the layout so I used that for my inspiration. I used the Pink Paislee mistable trims for my banner and mixed in some of the My Mind's Eye garland. I love the look of the two of them combined!

It's National Scrapbook Day this weekend and there are plenty of online activities and local crops...will you be scrapping?

I wanted to scrap some photos of a day trip we made to the Minneapolis Mall of America last fall. We had a great time, found lots of bargains and did plenty of goofing off. To better tell my story, I changed the number of photos from 3 to 6, leaving the rest of the sketch the same.

Guess what everyone?! May has arrived! Yes, it is once again a new month and with it comes a new gallery at write. click. scrapbook. This month we are sharing layouts that celebrate the everyday moments in our life.

Last year, over Christmas break, the kids introduced Tim to the game "High Noon". He signed up as "Maximus Payneous" (which he can indeed be at times, lol) and has been engaging in shoot-outs and stealing gold ever since. Anytime I hear the games signature western music from another room, I know he is on his iPad and up to his usual cowboy shenanigans on his favorite game.

What I like about the gallery theme this month is that the one thing that is a constant today, most likely won't be 5 years from now (maybe even a year from now) and it is fun to look back on these pages and say "remember when".

So what about your daily life? What happens on a regular basis that you've been meaning to document but haven't yet? Go ahead a whip up a page, you'll love looking back on it

Vintage Street Market April Projects

I am professing my love right here, right now, for the yellow crepe paper in the Vintage Street Market Party Games Paper Sheets and Tags kit.

Here's how to create the pretty yellow ruffle.

1. Cut 6 strips of the crepe paper to 12" x 1 1/2".
2. Starting at the bottom, run a strip of tape across the entire width of the page and lay the crepe paper on the tape, gathering it as you go.
3. To hide the seam, layer the next strip of crepe paper over the bottom strip.
4. To finish off the top layer of crepe paper, tie some Black Twirly Twine around the seam.

For my title I used the "Family" die cut from the Family Fashion Accessory Kit.

Got Sketch 107 Workshop Bonus Layout

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in with a quick post to share my final layout for the Got Sketch 107 Workshop. This was a bonus sketch for participants that finished all eight layouts during the eight week class.

I used it to scrap some older photos of my cutie patootie niece!

My baby's 15 today!

I can hardly believe that my baby is 15 today. Where did the time go? In the days preceding Alyssa's birthday I got a little sentimental (like I always do) and decided to pull out her hospital photo and actually do something with it.

The outcome is a simple layout using the Bella Blvd, Baby Girl collection.   

Now, 15 years later our 9 pound 1 1/2 ounce bundle of joy has grown into this beautiful young lady. 

In the last year Alyssa has started high school and really blossomed into a confident young lady. She has taken on many new responsibilities and rose to the occasion each and every time. I am so proud of her and can't wait to see what is in store for her this next year.

Happy Birthday, sweetie! I hope this is your best year yet!

The girl with the alcohol inks

Hey everyone! I have a fun layout to share that I made for a challenge with the girls over at My Scrapbook Nook. The challenge was to create a layout based on this inspiration piece.

Fun inspiration piece, don't you think?! Here is my take on it:

The photo was taken at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. There were lots of cans of spray paint there for people to add their own art to the partially buried Cadillacs so I thought the ink splatters/drips went with the photos perfectly.

The base of the layout is a transparency. To make the ink splatters I dripped alcohol ink onto the transparency and blew it around with compressed air before it dried. It was a super easy technique...didn't even get any ink on my fingers.

write. click. scrapbook journaling prompts

Do you ever have a photo that you love but don't have a story for it? This happens to me frequently. Sometimes I'll go ahead and scrap it and let the page be about the photo but wouldn't it be nice to make it meaningful? That is exactly what I did with this photo when Amy Sorensen at write. click. scrapbook asked us if we had layouts to contribute for her journaling post.

I decided to grab a storyless photo and create a layout using the demonstrative adjective prompt that was inspired by Lisa Kisch's layout in the write. click. scrapbook April Gallery.

Here is the outcome of my layout based on the prompt:

I love how this turned out, it says so much with so few words. All I had to do to complete the layout was add letter stickers, buttons, and washi tape. Could not have been easier!

Got Sketch 107 Workshop Sketch 8

The 8th and final sketch was posted in the Got Sketch 107 Workshop today! It's a 2-pager and I had a lot fun putting it together.

It is colorful, fun, and whimsical and features my new Smash tape (love it) and my polaroid and smiley face stamps from the Lawn Fawn Say Cheese stamp set. The circle border at the bottom was created with my cutting machine and accented with several smiley face embellishments made with the Epiphany tool and bubble caps.
