I love looking at magazines and catalogs. Every time I flip through one I find something that inspires me. It could be an ad with a great design, a color combo, words, or any other number of things. I often rip those pages out and keep them for ideas on future layout, but the thing is, I'm not so great at actually doing anything with all these ideas.
I saved this image from my latest Anthropologie catalog. I really liked the tone on tone background and decided to use it as my inspiration for my Shutterbug layout.
I created the tone on tone background using punched out flowers. For the title I used my Xyron Wishblade Die Cutting Machine, which had sadly been sitting in the closet for more years than I care to admit, waiting to be used. With all the chatter online about the Silhouette I was inspired to pull it out and learn how to use it. I started simple with a title, but I'm anxious to experiment with it a little more and see what else I can create!
Where do you get your inspiration? Do you tear out ideas from magazines and catalogs too? Do you use them? It was a great jump start for me. I challenge you to try it, I know I will be doing this again.
Eeep! Love the tone on tone punched flowers, adds so much texture to the page. And the way you used the MME pom pom ribbon, such an original idea!
I tend to be inspired by a lot of song lyrics to come up with page ideas.

okay this tone on tone is AMAZING! I just started using Pinterest this week (got the idea from Rhonna Farrer) and LOVE it!! I see a lot of ideas from blogs and online galleries, I used to print stuff but now it's all in one place! I still find ideas from catalogs though.

The punched flower background is so pretty! How do you organize you magazine inspiration? I used to tear our ideas from magazine, but then I felt like I was just making a mess.

Beautiful layout from such an inspirational image! I just love Anthropologie! I usually bop around looking for color inspirations in a variety of outlets. I usually save pictures and tab different magazines....nine times out of ten, though, I don't use them. My brain just can't stop thinking and creating! Wish my body could keep up - lol!

What a great page. The Sihouette chatter has been inspiring me to dust off the old machine, too!
Two of my fave magazines for inspiration are Print & How Magazines.

Pretty layout.
Your tiny flowers are perfectly spaced ;)
I too cut out layouts and such that inspire me. Could be the colour, design or words.

That is exactly how it is for me too...more ideas in my head than I will ever have time to do.

I have never heard of those magazines. I'm going to look for them the next time I'm in the book store.

If I pulled ideas from a scrapbook magazine I have them organized by categories, like color, design, type, embellishments, etc., and I usually write a short note of what I liked about the item I saved. The ads from magazines and catalogs aren't organized. If I really like one I'll take it to my scrap room right away, but don't normally do anything with it. Otherwise, they are piled in a stack. I really need to organize them too.
