A Spring Bouquet with Vintage Street Market

Spring has arrived and we've been enjoying blooming flowers and temperatures in the 80's. So much to love about this time of year! Since I have "Spring Fever" I thought it would be fun to make a spring bouquet using my Vintage Street Market goodies.

They were very easy to make. I cut out the petals for the flowers in two different sizes using my cutting machine, layered them on top of each other, punched a small hole in the middle of the flower and inserted the stick of the sucker.

I think this would make a great little gift for a friend or co-worker and even a cute table centerpiece at a party.

My daughter, lover of all sweets, liked the bouquet and the first thing she asked was if she could have one of the suckers. Next thing I know, ever single sucker had been plucked from my display, lol!

Well, I couldn't say no to that face, now could I?

One Hour Layout Challenge

Raise your hand if you are a slow scrapbooker. Please tell me I'm not the only one sitting here with my hand in the air, lol! This is certainly not the first time I've brought this topic up and it is something I frequently think about so I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to complete a layout in one hour.

In the end, it took me 1 1/2 hours and my average is around 3 hours (or more). The things that cut into my time was my indecision with my paper choices (I switched papers 10 minutes into the layout), I stamped and embossed, and I had to take the time to wind a new bobbin because I HAD to sew.  Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my time. Is it a favorite layout? No, but I do like it so I think the challenge was a success for me.

I'm going to try to do this exercise more often. It's bound to get easier, don't you think? What about you? Do you want to take the one hour challenge? If you do, I would love to see what you create!

Vintage Street Market Retro Easter kit

I have some new Vintage Street Market projects to share! I was sent some goodies from the Retro Easter kit which had lots of fun little vintage pieces that I worked into my projects.

For my first project I made a little photo card display.

The photo features my mom and her siblings on Easter Sunday. Don't they look adorable?!

I also made a mixed media Easter canvas.

Words to Live By Altered Book

I have a lot of fun things to share with you today!

I was finally able to start on my book for the Studio Calico Happy Moments class. I'm altering an old dictionary and will use it for collecting my favorite quotes and sayings.

Here are the products that I selected from my stash for this project.

I managed to sew together a few of the inside pages and decorated the cover of the book.

I'm looking forward to starting on the inside pages and will share more as I finish them.

Ok, before I sign off, did any of you manage to see the Hunger Games? You know how excited I was to see it and even rambled on about it for quite sometime. My son went Friday night, but time was not on my side this weekend. I'm hoping I can fit it into my schedule next weekend! He said it was good! Did you like it?

Spring Break and The Hunger Games

I love reading books and used to read lots of them in my spare time. Unfortunately today, I don't get much reading in. I usually devote any spare time I have to scrapbooking, but there was one book that was on my "must read list" this winter. Guesses anyone?! The Hunger Games!

Last week while vacationing with the family on spring break I thought I would try to squeeze in a little reading time. The week went a little something like this...

A road trip to New Mexico (I love road trips, btw)...

Three fun days on the slopes...

A day in Taos shopping and dining on crab and lobster enchiladas that were to die for...

We saw some deer and an opening to a cave in a mountain which I am convinced had a hibernating bear in it...

And, are you ready for it...I read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay! Yes, the entire trilogy and they were fabulous!

Celebrating 16 years of you!

Hi everyone! I ran across a layout that I made about four months ago that I forgot to post. Oops!

So here it is...Celebrating 16 fabulous years of Wyatt!

I wanted it to be more than just a birthday layout so I included a photo from each year in his life. I love how it shows his growth and interests over the years. He literally, grew up right before my eyes on one layout!

Using this technique is definitely one of my favorite things to do. Give it a shot, I know you will love the results!

The Wild West Mini Album

Hello everyone! This week over at write. click. scrapbook we are sharing mini albums made using a kit we put together with supplies from our stash.

I wanted to use some photos from a visit we made to Lincoln County, New Mexico where we learned lots of history about the Lincoln County war and Billy the Kid so I pulled some western/masculine products from the American Crafts Chap line along with a few bits and pieces from old Scrapbook Circle and Studio Calico kits. Here is the end result of my selections.

Bella Blvd March Guest Designer

Hello friends! I'm guest designing over at Bella Blvd today so I have a couple Bella Blvd layouts to share with you.

Look at my daughter! She is such a stinker, trying to hold back her brother so she could get more eggs. hehe! I used the Spring Flings and Easter Things collection and also added some of the new designer tapes.

I dug into the Mr. Boy line for my daughter's softball layout. This was my first time using this collection and I LOVE it. I added a couple flags and button from the 2012 CHA Winter release. You should be seeing all the new Bella Blvd releases in stores soon.

Got Sketch 107 Workshop

Got Sketch Workshop 107 is in full swing! This is my first time participating I am so impressed with the workshop. I used a tutorial by Marcy Penner to create the chevron. It was really easy to do actually, I'm already thinking about some more layout ideas with this technique.
