Raise your hand if you are a slow scrapbooker. Please tell me I'm not the only one sitting here with my hand in the air, lol! This is certainly not the first time I've brought this topic up and it is something I frequently think about so I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to complete a layout in one hour.
Wanna see it?
{Supplies: Scrapbook Circle Remember This kit and Studio Calico Brooklyn Flea kit and add-ons}
In the end, it took me 1 1/2 hours and my average is around 3 hours (or more). The things that cut into my time was my indecision with my paper choices (I switched papers 10 minutes into the layout), I stamped and embossed, and I had to take the time to wind a new bobbin because I HAD to sew. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my time. Is it a favorite layout? No, but I do like it so I think the challenge was a success for me.
I'm going to try to do this exercise more often. It's bound to get easier, don't you think? What about you? Do you want to take the one hour challenge? If you do, I would love to see what you create!
You are definitely NOT alone - raising my hands! LOL!! My problem is paper choices - going back 'n forth. Drives me crazy! LOL!! If it was kit, maybe that might cut my time :)

I seem to be a quick scrapbooker, some layouts take like 20 minutes, where as others take 4 hours lol. Love your layout

I definitely am a slow scrapper but I think mainly because I'm still a newbie. I take more than 3 hours inclusive of planning.
I love your layout. Gonna wanna case it.

I love the layout. I am an extremely slow scrapper and seem to spend ha.lf my time shuffling papers. Maybe I need to set myself a challenge like this. Thanks for the idea. S

It is a great page! I am a slow scrapper too. I managed to pick up speed (ever so slightly) when I started committing more to sticking it down and having an adhesive that really doesn't enjoy being repositioned ;)

It is a beautiful page. I love the red and aqua with just a hint of yellow.
Sometimes, I take days to create one page. For me, I like the process as much as the finished page. I am in no hurry.

It takes me an entire day to pick out my paper and embellishments. lol! Love the pic of you and hubby (?) on skis! Sure wish I could ski! Nice layout! :-)

Hand in the air here! I'm slow but I don't mind. To me, this is a craft, it is about enjoying the process as much as what you make. I like your film strip squares alternating with photos and embellishments. There is a lot going on the page - great job!

I'm raising my hand too...I'm slow and messy! I think your layout is gorgeous. I love the large photo and the photo strips, love the colors too!

It looks great and I think it's a wonderful idea for a challenge. Heck, I'll take you up on it! A very productive 90 minutes there and yes, I totally "get" the need to sew on paper!

I am a very slooooow scrapper. I just love hanging out and taking my time. I love your layout...beautiful.

It's a cute layout! And I'm impressed that you were able to cut your time in half. When I saw the title of your post, I laughed. I usually take several hours to complete a layout, whether it's simple or complicated. LOL. Nice to know I'm in good company.

Wow! Love the large photo and film strips! Great layout!

I'm a slow scrapper too! I think fear of messing up gets in the way sometimes! However, I think you did a great job with this LO! I love the mix of papers and embellishing you used on the film strip! May have to try a challenge like this myself!

I've been holding on to this stamp trying to decide if I need to keep it or sell it. I really love what you did with it so it goes back into the keep pile!

Great layout. I think it looks awesome, I love having a large photo and a series of smaller photos too...guess its because I take way too may photos! And I'm such a slow scrapper too, but its something that I'm working on! :)

It turned out great! It takes me about 3 nights to do a layout, from planning to finishing. I spend about 1-2 hours a night so do the math lol! Granted each night I have to haul my stuff out and clean everything up since I scrap on the dining table.
I cannot imagine finishing a layout in an hour. I'd probably just mat photos, slap on a title and call it a day!

this is a great challenge...and i love your finished project! i am definitely a slow scrapper, but using kits seems to help me work more quickly!

I'm loving this layout!!! There's a lot of detail in there to have completed it in 1 hour! It seems like the longer I scrapbook the longer my layouts take unless I use a sketch, which I'm doing more and more frequently!!!

Oh, I am sooooooo slooooow! But this layout proves that great pages can be made in an hour. Thanks for the inspiration!!

This is one of my new favorite layouts of yours Diane! Gorgeous and only 90 minutes too!

Amazing, Diane! I can't believe you did this in an hour!
Posted by: Amy Coose | March 29, 2012 at 05:18 PM
this is GREAT! I use to be a FAST scrapper now, not so much--and I'm okay with that! :)
Posted by: Diana Waite | March 29, 2012 at 06:11 PM
I think that the page turned out great! I would have played along but I usually take under 45 mins so it wouldn't have been a challenge for me! ;)

I still have little ones around so I usually dont have more than an hour here or there which forces me to say, done is done! lol. But I think you rocked the hour scrapping as well as you always rock the longer than an hour scrapping!
