Ok, ok...I'm feeling the need to explain. Last week I shared a 23 year anniversary layout that had some fun facts about my hubby and I over the years. A few of you left comments about the car statistic which was rather high...22 cars in 23 years. I must admit, I was surprised by the number when we counted them up it averaged out to almost one a year and we typically drive our cars for 3-5 years. So how did that happen?
Of the 22 cars, we had:
- 7 company cars
- 10 everyday cars we drove
- 5 1970 Dodge Challengers
You see...my hubby has a thing for old Mopar Challengers, kind of like I do for scrapbooking. This is Challenger #3...he decided it was time to sell it when darling daughter (about 5 at the time) threw a rock at it.
The problem is, he can't live without one so a couple years later Challenger #4 and #5 were purchased. They were both a heap of junk and are now being restored into one car by a man I affectionately call "The Challenger Man".
I'm pulling a layout out of the archives, back before my blogging days, that features Tim and "The Challenger Man". Now hold onto your hats...the photos in this layout are of his backyard. Yes, you read that right, this is his back yard and it is gated and locked and full of old cars and car parts organized on shelving. It was the most organized junk yard I have ever seen.
When he opened the gate and my husband saw it for the first time his eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store, probably the same way my eyes light up when I walk into a scrapbook store or my kit of the month arrives on my door step.
So there you have it...7 were company cars that we didn't purchase, 10 we did purchase for everyday driving and 5 are collector cars that feed my husband's obsession for 1970 Dodge Challengers...depending on how you look at it they are trash or treasures!
