Fancy Pants Guest Designer

Hi everyone and happy Friday! I'm so excited to share several layouts I made for Fancy Pants Designs, using their brand new collections, as their Guest Designer this month.

Collecting Moments Collection

Collecting Moments was perfect for documenting some thoughts I had while my DH and I were headed to France for the first time. We celebrated while en route with a little bubbly! :) My journaling is written on tags tucked in the envelopes behind the photo.

Happy Go Lucky Collection

The colors in the Happy Go Lucky collection complemented this photo of my family perfectly. I enlarged it and used the frames, tags and resin flowers for embellishing my page.

Merry Little Christmas Collection

I love the traditional colors and vintage feeling to the Merry Little Christmas Collection. I've been saving this vintage photo for the right papers and this was it!

Last, but not least, I also made a Diorama Mason jar display for giving a gift card. Who wouldn't love to open a decorated Mason jar vs. a plain old envelope with gift card insert.

A Fond Farewell To Bella Blvd

Hello everyone! Last week I turned in my last assignment as a member of the 2012-2013 Bella Blvd Design Team. Over the last year as a designer for Bella Blvd and an ongoing Guest Designer the year prior, I've made many, many layouts using the fabulous collections at Bella Blvd. Some of the layouts are all time favorites...here's a few that I especially love.

 

What an awesome array of collections from Bella Blvd is displayed here in my favorites. ALL the collections are so usable with great graphic designs. Bella Blvd will forever be one of my favorite manufacturers.

It was a hard decision but I decided not to re-apply for the 2013-2014 team so I could focus on my family and some other goals for a bit. I would like to thank Stephanie for the privilege of being a part of such a wonderful manufacturer team. It has been nothing short of fabulous and this team will always be special to me. I would also like to thank Laura for being our fearless leader and also a friend! I have loved every minute of the last year.

It All Started With A Sketch Winner

Bella Blvd Gelato Run or Dye layout

I wouldn't call myself a mixed media art girl, but I do like to experiement a little once in awhile and dabble with things that get my fingers dirty! 

I knew that a water color effect would be the perfect background for a photo of my friend and I at the end of the Run or Dye race, where we are covered in dye. My goal was to recreate the look of the logo on the t-shirt with splotches of colors of all the different colors of dyes that were thrown at as during the race.

In addition to the water coloring, I used a variety of Bella Blvd papers for layering and my title. I knew that Bella Blvd's bright and fun colors and prints would be perfect for this layout.

Here is the end result. 

To create the watercolor background I colored directly on my page with Gelato crayons in the colors of my choice. To blend them I simply dipped my finger in water and rubbed until I achieved the look I wanted.

For this assignment we were asked to mix and match papers from different collections. I used papers from about 6-7 Bella Blvd collections. All the Bella Blvd collections mix and match so easily, it's one of the things I LOVE about Bella Blvd.

Gold Trending Layout

I'm not going to lie...I LOVE gold right now. I want to use it on ALL my layouts. Typically I think of gold mixed in with soft, pastel colors, but gold looks fabulous with bold and rich colors too! Just a small scattering of a few gold pieces along with the super sized burlap bow, made this layout for me.

To create the background of my layout, I dipped a brush into a bottle of pale yellow/gold mist and simply brushed it on. Super easy! I also added a few mist splatters in gold and teal before I started laying down my papers and embellishments.

The small gold stars rub-ons and sequin are by Jenni Bowlin.

This is a favorite photo of my daughter from our vacation in Cabo this past summer. I added it on top of a Fancy Pants envelope and placed the journaling inside. Since the photo was covering part of the closure, I placed a cork star, covered in embossing powder, on top of the photo and wrapped the tie around the star to secure the envelope closed.

A Flair for Buttons Owl cards

It's true...I will always love owls. Depending on the style of the owl it can look vintage, retro, cute, woodland style, realistic, even scary at Halloween. A bonus for us creative folks are all the cute owl sayings to pair with owls in our paper crafting!

Today I'm sharing 3 owl cards that use the same design but each card has a different owl greeting, paper, and embellishments. At the end of the post I'll share a list of owl sayings.

Bella Blvd Catch Me If You Can

This week on the Bella Blvd blogwe were challenged to use 6 of the same type of embellishment. I decided to use the wood buttons lined up in a row under the sand in the photos and customized each one with DMC thread in colors to match my papers.

I also added some hand stitching to the clouds in the patterned paper and my title.

I really like how the simplicity of the design lets this favorite photo shine along with the row of buttons and hand-stitching. To see more ideas for using 6 of the same type of embellishment, make sure you visit the Bella Blvd blog.

Lily Bee Mixed Media Layout

The theme on the Lily Bee blog this week is mixed media. It is a little out of my norm so I signed up to push myself to try something new. There are so many different techniques and interesting things to do for mixed media art but in the end I decided to give melting crayons a go.

Crayons remind me of my childhood and small children in general so I decided to scrap a photo of my daughter at her pre-k graduation to tie in with the elementary theme.

Here is what I came up with.

To create the dripped wax effect, I adhered crayons in the colors I wanted to a scrap piece of paper and then taped the scrap paper directly above where I wanted the dripped wax. I heated the crayons with my heat tool until they began to drip down my page and stopped when I had the look I wanted.
